WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT HASTWELL. COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs K. Ngatuere presided over a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Hastwell Women’s Institute. Mrs Ken Henson, of Kaiparoro, gave an interesting demonstration on spinning. Three new members were enrolled. The roll call, given by Mrs .Ngatuere, was “Riddles,” and the motto by Miss E. Larsen was “Sing as we go.” The competitions resulted as follow: Tray cloths, to be sent to the hospital: Seniors, Mrs E. G. Sigvertsen 1, Mrs C. Seymour 2, Mrs K. Ngatuere 3; juniors. Miss E. Dick 1, Miss E. Larsen 2. Best buttonhole: Mrs K. Ngatuere 1, Miss E. Dick 2, Mrs J. Dick 3. A game organised by Miss E. Dick was won by Mrs K. Hensen, with Mrs Burt second, and Mrs Guthrie and Mrs Dick, equal, third. The parcel fund conducted by Mrs Seymour was won by Lionel Sigvertsen. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Miss E. Larsen and Miss E. Dick.
