June 7. 11l Italy, the Firth Army is still pressing on in pursuit ('if the Germans north of Rome. A correspondent states that Allied forces kept up their rapid advance today towards the much-bombed port of Civita Vecchia, 35 miles up the coast from the mouth of the Tiber. Allied tanks and infantry are ten miles north-west of Rome and are approaching Lake Bracciano. The New Zealanders have occupied a town in the Upper Liri Valley. The British United Press Berne correspondent quotes a report from Milan that a large Italian fleet is cruising off Genoa and that Allied landings on the Ligurian coast are expected hourly.
