IN PARTS OF YUGOSLAVIA SEVERE FIGHTING IN SOME AREAS ENEMY AIR FORCE ACTIVE (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) RUGBY, May 22. Heavy fighting continues on all fronts in Croatia, with particular severity in some sectors, says a Yugoslav Partisan communique. While the enemy is exerting strong pressure in the Lika Province, his offensive in the Banija Province has been repelled. Heavy fighting is in progress in the Pozega-Gradiska sector, and fighting continues in Eastern Bosnia. The German Air Force recently has been particularly active in Croatia and Bosnia and a number of localities have been completely razed to the ground and the population has suffered severe losses. In an Allied raid on Bihac, which is an important railway junction on the line from Zagreb to the Dalmatian ports of Zara, Split and Dubrovnik, the railway station and large depots were destroyed. A German general, riding a motorcycle combination along the coast road in Yugoslavia, was killed when Allied aircraft strafed the road, according to a correspondent at Allied Headquarters in Italy.
