IN FULL SWING
ALLIED AIR OFFENSIVE ATTACKS OVER WIDE AREAS OF GERMANY & FRANCE. DEFENCES & COMMUNICATIONS BLASTED. LONDON, May 21. The Allied air offensive is in full swing again, not only against enemy targets in Northern France, but over a wide area of Germany as well. American fighter-bombers and fighters swept over northwestern, central and eastern Germany and attacked airfields, locomotives, anti-air-craft towers and other objee- • fives. A Swedish message states that telephonic Communication with Berlin was interrupted for at least two hours.
American heavy bombers went across the Channel to attacks military objectives in the Pas de Calais area. Fighters swept inland and attacked railways, and airfields. Eight Thunderbolts are missing. Photographs reveal considerable damage to all the four targets attacked by American Fortresses and Liberators yesterday, states an official announcement. A number of hangars and an auxiliary electricity station were damaged and a large repair hangar was set on fire. Other buildings and hangars were hit at Villa Coublay. Very good results are also indicated in the attack against a railway yard and airfield near Rheims.
