Scarlet Fever Cases.
Twenty-five cases of scarlet fever were reported to the Borough Health Inspector, Mr T. A. Russell, last month. So far this month four more cases have been recorded in the borough. The cases continue to be of a mild type. Shunting Mishap. A shunting msihap occurred in the .Waingawa railway station yards yesterday afternoon, when five empty sheep wagons were derailed and smashed. The track was not damaged, and no one was injured. Soldier Regains Consciousness. Admitted to the Wellington Hospital on Thursday night last with a .22 bullet wound in the abdomen, Richard Chorley, soldier, is now reported io have regained consciousness, but his condition is still serious. Prisoner Sentenced. ' In the Supreme Court, Dunedin, Richard Edward Skull Wilson, who was acquitted on a major charge of attempted murder but found guilty of assault at Owaka, causing bodily harm to Robert Victor Caley, was sentenced by Mr Justice Kennedy to nine months’ reformative detention. Trawler Founders. The trawler Mary Ellen is a total wreck off Paremata as the result of springing a leak, filling, and sinking on the bar while entering Porirua harbour at the weekend. The crew of three was rescued without difficulty by Mr Arthur Hunter in his fishing launch. The master and owner of the trawler, Mr.R. A. Roderique, lost furniture and household effects which he had stored aboard pending securing a house in Wellington. Sixty cases of fish aboard were jettisoned and as it washed up on the beach Paremata and Plimmerton residents had more fresh fish, free of cost, than has been the good fortune of most citizens in New Zealand for a long time. Last night only the mast of the Mary Ellen was above water. .
