ACCEPTANCE OF SUPPLIES

FOR AMERICAN WAR PRISONERS & INTERNEES NOTIFIED BY THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.25 a.m.) NEW YORK, May 8. The Japanese Government has declared its readiness to dispatch a vessel to Vladivostock to pick up supplies from the United States for the relief of American prisoners of war and civilian internees, reports the Tokio official radio. A definite plan for that purpose has been communicated through the Swiss Minister.

The radio adds that as a result most careful and detailed investigations concerning charges by the United States, a reply was handed to the Swiss Minister in Tokio on May 3, setting forth clearly how American nationals actually are being treated by the Japanese and pointing out minutely Errors and misunderstandings on the pari of the United States. The Japanese Government took’ occasion to draw attention to “the unjust treatment accorded Japanese nationals by the American authorities, enumerating concrete cases reported by reliable authorities and demanding rectification.”
