NEW ZEALAND ATTACKS

ON NAZI STRONGPOINTS i SOUTH OF CASSINO GUNS ACTIVE ON FIFTH ARMY FRONT. NUMBER OF ENEMY TANKS KNOCKED OUT. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, April 10. New Zealand troops have attacked two strongpoints south of Cassino, on the Eighth Army front in Italy. They inflicted casualties on the Germans and the strongpoints were partly destroyed by our artillery.

Guns have ■ been rumbling all along the main Fifth Army front from Cassino to the sea. British troops on the Garigliano sector knocked out several German tanks. A correspondent says that many small groups of enemy infantry have been seen in the mountains on this front, together with an unusual amount of motor transport. In the Anzio beach-head the Allies repulsed five German sorties. Writing yesterday, a correspondent said that "Beetles.” the German remote controlled tanks, again made their appearance in the beach-head, and met with punishment similar to that previously inflicted. At the first light on Friday four were allowed to approach our positions four miles east of Cis-' terna. They were engaged by artillery. Three were completely destroyed and the other was damaged.

ENEMY LESS ACTIVE IN BRIDGEHEAD AREA. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.55 a.m.) RUGBY, April 10. A slackening off by German artillery and patrols has been noted in the bridgehead, where five enemy patrols were repulsed. Another remote control tank was knocked out, bringing the total to five in the past two days. MANY TARGETS ON FRENCH MEDITERRANEAN COAST. ATTACKED BY BOMBERS FROM ITALY. LONDON, April 10. Enemy targets on the French Mediterranean coast have been attacked by Mosquitoes from Italy. Airfields, goods trains and supply dumps were among the targets attacked.
