MASTERTON MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS. SATURDAY, MAY 27, 1944. NTOTICE is hereby given that the SUPPLEMENTARY District Electors’ List will CLOSE at 5 p.m. on SATURDAY, April 29, 1944. THIS WILL BE THE LAST OPPORTUNITY OF BEING ENROLLED. All persons aged 21 years and over (other than enemy aliens) who have lived twelve months in the Dominion and three months last past in Masterton, or have served outside New Zealand in connection with the present war with His Majesty’s Naval, Military or Air Forces, or in any British ship which was not a home-trade ship within the meaning of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, and is residing in the Ward or Borough to which the list relates, and is not enrolled by virtue of a Residential qualification on any other list or roll of electors of a local authority, are eligible for enrolment, as well as persons who are qualified by virtue of being Ratepayers, Freeholders or Occupiers (tenants). The Main District Electors’ List is now printed. I COMPULSORY ENROLMENT OF RESIDENTIAL ELECTORS. T OCAL Elections and Polls Amendment Act, 1944, Subsection (1) of Section 7: — “Every person who at any time after the passing of this Act: — (a) Is entitled by virtue of a residential qualification to be enrolled on any roll of electors of any borough or town district; and (b) Is not possessed of any other qualification for enrolment thereon; and (c) Is not enrolled thereon — shall, forthwith after the passing of this Act or after the date on which he becomes so entitled (whichever is the later), make a claim in the form prescribed in that behalf under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, to be enrolled on that roll of electors.” Every person failing to enrol under the above provisions within 21 days hereof is liable to legal proceedings being taken against them. Claims for Enrolment as an Elector' under “The Local Elections and Polls Amendment Act, 1944.’ PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT, pursuant to the provisions of “The Local Elections and Polls Amendment Act, 1944,” any person who possesses a Residential. qualification may, on or before WEDNESDAY, the 19th day of APRIL, 1944, have his name entered on the Roll of Electors in any of the six respective Ridings of the County of Masterton, subject to the following qualifications: — (1) THAT he is a British subject by birth (or by naturalisation having effect in New Zealand), and of the full age of 21 years. (2) THAT he has resided for one year in New Zealand. (3) THAT he has resided in any of the six respective Ridings of the County of Masterton for not less than THREE MONTHS immediately preceding his enrolment or claim for enrolment as an elector; or that he has served outside New Zealand in connection with the present War with His Majesty’s Naval, Military, Air Forces, or Mercantile Marine, and is residing in any one of the six respective Ridings of the County of Masterton, as the case may be, and is not enrolled by virtue of a Residential Qualification on any other Roll of Electors within the meaning of “The Local Elections and Polls Amendment Act, 1944.” AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN THAT the Ratepayers Roll of County Electors for the several Ridings of the County of Masterton has been preoared, and shall come into force on WEDNESDAY, the 19th day of April, 1944.
