OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS

BOROUGH WATER SUPPLY Sir, —It is strange that there should be any criticism of the Borough Council’s action,, which has resulted in a better water supply than Masterton has enjoyed for many years. During the drought of the past summer the community had ample water and also freedom from the harassing restrictions of past years. Surely no one has anything to say in favour of those meters in the alternative scheme proposed at the time the matter was under discussion. Masterton may not possess the best water supply in the world, but we have had a good deal to be thankful for this past summer, when many communities in New Zealand were suffering from an acute water shortage. The council and the Borough Engineer are certainly to be congratulated upon the scheme they adopted. Thanking you.— I am, etc., APPRECIATIVE CITIZEN. Masterton, March 26.
