SIGNS OF NEW ATTITUDE REPORTED SECRET SESSION TO DISCUSS UNITED STATES WARNING (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 10 a.m.) LONDON, February 9. The Finnish Government held a secret session last night, to examine the threatened break in relations with the United States should Finland remain in the war, says the Geneva newspaper “.La Suisse,” quoting a. report from German diplomatic circles.
The German-controlled Scandinavian Telegraph Bureau distributed a dispatch from Helsinki, in which a Finnish newspaper is quoted as saying: “It is high time we ourselves investigated peace terms. We musthave the courage to discus peace problems openly.”
Another Finnish newspaper is reported to have said that the Finnish Foreign Office has no knowledge of the reported statement by a Finnish Legation official in Washington, that Finland will not capitulate. Observers in Stockholm regard this as an indication that the Finnish Government does not want to shoulder responsibility for the statement.
