The Secretary for India (Mr Amery) today received a deputation from the National Executive Committee of the Labour Party and had a full discussion with them of the food situation in India. particularly the situation in Bengal. The discussion covered the recent famine in Bengal, the presentsituation and the policy of the Government of India for dealing with the food situation in India during the coming year, on which Mr Amery gave deputation latest information received from the Government of India regarding Bengal.
