FLYING LINERS
UNITED STATES ORDERS TWENTY. (By Telegraph-Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON. January 5. The Navy Department has ordered 20 Mars flying boats for the naval air transport service. These flying-boat's have the cubic capacity of a 15-room house. Admiral Land, chairman of the Maritime Commission, in a speech, said that the aeroplane will supersede the giant liners like the Queen Mary, of which no more will be built. The aeroplane, with its higher speed, will cut heavily into the higher-priced passenger, traffic and mail revenues on which the liners rely.
