AIR FORCE RELATIONS

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. APPEAL FOR WOOLLEN GARMENTS. At the monthly meeting of the Air Force Relations Committee, the following members were present: Mesdames Lord (in the chair), S. Gill, J. Wright, C. F. A. Jones, J. A. Betts, AHarcombe, and P. Nathan, Apologies were received from Mrs H. Rishworth and Mjss M. Patrick and Mrs G. W. Sellar. It was reported that the New Zealand War Services’ Association, London, had made an urgent appeal to Air Force Relations, for as many woollen garments as possible to be sent to England for New Zealand airmen, as they would be greatly needed during the winter weather in Europe. More pullovers were urgently needed, but there were sufficient scarves for present requirements. Knitters are advised that, if they prefer to make the original pattern, in stocking stitch, it is quite popular and acceptable. Aftei’ the meeting the committee packed two cases of tinned food to be sent to England. The committee wish to thank all those who so generously donated tinned (food, and had done knitting regularly, thus enabling the ‘committee to maintain a steady supply for the benefit of New Zealand airmen at home and overseas. Parcels of comforts, knitted garments, or tinned food, may be sent to any member of the committee, or left at the offices of Messrs Dunderdale and Gray, Perry Street. The parcels will be packed and forwarded to Wellington on the 20th of every month.
