CARTERTON
SWIMMING CLUB COMPETITIONS TONIGHT. (“Times-Age” Special.) The first evening competitions of the Carterton Swimming Club will be held at the Municipal Baths tonight. BOWLING CHAMPION RINK CONTEST. On Saturday the first game to find the champion rink of the club was played. The results were: —Tucker (s) beat Sorensen (s), 20/17; Harp (s) beat Barber (s), 20/18. The final will be played between Tucker and Harp. Champion singles: Johnston beat Colson, 21/20. Champion pairs: Barr (s) beat Daysh (s), 16/13; Simmonds (s) beat Riggs (s), 21/13. Personal items. There was a large attendance at the funeral of the late Mrs R. Franks on Saturday. The services at the house and cemetery were conducted by the Rev. W. J. Couling. A large number of beautiful wreaths were received. The pall-bearers were Messrs Harry, Charles and Terrence Tinsley, Charles, Joseph and Harold Jensen. Major Kia Ora Tyler, a daughter of Mrs F. E. Tyler, Carterton, has been appointed by the Salvation Commissioner to a position in the training garrison. Scout Card Party. There was a fair attendance at the card tournament held on Saturday night by the Scout Committee. The prizes were won by Mesdames A. Jensen, F. Jackson, SenT., Mabey and Miss Martin. A travelling prize was won by Mrs Mabey with Miss Martin second.
