WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING OF DELEGATES PROSPECTS FOR NEW SEASON. The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Cricket Association was held in Masterton last night, Mr E. Sortain Smith presided over an attendance representative of the Red Star, Old Boys, College and Daniell's clubs. In reviewing the activities last season Mr Smith said that the association had successfully come through a trying year. He thanked the Air Force members for their co-operation and congratulated Mr T. Sweeney on the fine College team. He also referred to the splendid work of Mr F. Dohnt in connection with the Umpires’ Association and he congratulated the successful teams in the competition. Present indications were, it was stated, that there would be three senior and four junior teams in the competition. It was decided that entries for' both sections should close on Tuesday, October 26. and that the season be officially opened on October 30. The secretary, Mr G. B. Peterson, pointed out that the present season would mark the silver jubilee of the association. Messrs B. Iveson, F. Dohnt and J. Renner were appointed a subcommittee to arrange for a suitable •celebration. A motion moved by Mr Peterson and seconded by Mr McMichael that, to eliminate drawn matches, the team scoring the most runs within the allotted time should be awarded the match regardless of the number of wickets that had fallen, was declared lost. It was decided to adhere to last year's arrangements, members stating that they would be more in the interests of the younger players. The election of officers resulted: — Patron, Mr F. G. Maunsell; president, Mr E. S. Smith; vice-presidents, Messrs L. J. Matthews, A. H. Daniell, G. Masters, E. M. Hodder, F. J. Gair, I. McLeod, B. Iveson, D. H. S. Riddiford and C. Perry; management committee, Messrs G. Barr, F. Williams, F. Hoar, D. McMichael, T. Sweeney; treasurer, Mr A. M. Bell; secretary, Mr G. B. Peterson.
