Mrs C. N. Stilburn, South Road, Masterton, has been spending a few days in Wellington. Mrs Glendenning, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs S. M. Baird, Masterton, has returned to Wairoa.
Mrs C. Bennett, who has been staying with Mrs W. G. Lamb, Chapel Street, Masterton, has returned to Hastings. Mr W. Marshall, Pacroa, has been re-elected president of the New Zealand County Industrial Union of Employers. Mr W. Morrison, Maxwell, has been re-elected president of the New Zealand Counties Association, with Messrs G. A. Monk, Levin, and W. M. Norman,, Winton, as vice-presidents. i Mr John Hogan, Auckland, lecturer j and writer on monetary reform, has| announced his intention of standing as an Independent for the Hutt seat against the Minister of Finance, Mr Nash. The death has occurred at Invercargill at the age of 49 years of Mr D. L. (“Scotty") Baird, a former Southland, South Island and New Zealand Rugby representative, as the result of an accident in a coal mine at Nightcaps.
