WAR TO CONTINUE
Proclamation by Marshal Badoglio > The King’ has issued a proclamation to the Italian people stating that there must be no recrimination. A second proclamation by Marshal Badoglio says the war will continue. There were two significant omissions in announcing the proclamations. There was no mention of the year of the Fascist era and the official Fascist anthem was not played, but the Italian national anthem was. The resignation of Mussolini comes nine days after the message of Mr Churchill and President Roosevelt calling on the Italian people to throw out Mussolini.
