OWNERSHIP OF MINE
TAKEN OVER BY BRITISH GOVERNMENT. FIRST EVENT OF ITS KIND. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.55 a.m.) RUGBY, December 28. The British Government, for the first time, has taken over the ownership and management of a colliery. This was announced at a meeting of the North Regional Coal Board today, when it was stated that the Government is taking over, under the Defence Regulations, the whole of the issued shares of Nottingham and Clifton Colliery Company, Ltd., and that the shares would be vested in nominees of the Ministry of Fuel. The shares of the company are to be paid for on the basis of their value on November 4.
