Death of Stallion.
Foxlight, a . stallion owned by Mr J. Mulvaney, of Kaituna, was found dead in his paddock this week. Foxlight was a well-known sire, and his death will be a severe loss to Mr Mulvaney.
Liberty Loan.
At the close of business yesterday the total of the Liberty Loan apphcatons had reached £6,733,670 from 9355 applicants. The amount applied for yesterday was £319,940. With seven working days to go before lists are due to be closed, the sum of £3,266,330 is required to complete the £10,000,000 asked for by the Government. Soldiers Entertained. Members of the armed forces on leave in the Masterton district were entertained at a civic dinner last evening. The Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, presided over a large attendance. In speaking to the toast, “His Majesty’s Armed Forces,” Mr Boddington referred to the wonderful achievements of the New Zealanders, Maori and Pakeha, overseas. “Wairarapa airmen,” he said, “have won many honours of which we are all proud.” Major R. J. Fowler briefly replied.
