MANAWATU MEETING FINAL DAY AT AWAPUNI. WIN FOR EXPELLANT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., June 28. The Manawatu Racing Club concluded a most successful winter meeting at Awapuni on Saturday in fine weather, the day being sunny and mild. The track was again heavy and holding, and times in all events were slow. There was a large attendance, and the totalisator handled £31,344 10s, compared with £17,969 on a Monday last year. The total for the meeting was £59,270, compared with £42,932 10s, an increase of £16,337 10s. Results:— Akitio Hack and Hunters’ Hurdles, one mile and a half: 11 Flying Spy, 9.0 (L. Brown) 1; 7 Cherry Hunter, 9.0 (E. Baker) 2; 5 Rockery, 9.8 (R. Johnstone) 3. Also started: 1 Colincamps, 4 Young Charles, 9 Master Cyklon. 12 Acquest, 16 Acrobat, 6 Bronze Ora, 2 Classic, 3 Elusory, 13 Half Caste, 10 Possionace, 15 Squeers, 14 Vadanoe, 6 Vengeance. Five lengths; neck. Acquest was fourth. Time, 2.54 2-5. Te Marae Hack Handicap, No. 1. seven furlongs: 1 Lady Virginia, 8.2 (W. Broughton) 1; 2 First Round, 8.0 (P. Burgess) 2; 5 Noble Eagle, 8.7 (S. Anderson) 3.
