CARTERTON
ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS LOYAL HEART OF OAK LODGE. (“Times-Age” Special.) P.G. Sister M. E. Mellish, N.G., presided over the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Heart of Oak Odd Fellows’ Lodge last evening. A letter was received from P.G., Bro. A. R. Tankersley, who' is serving with the armed forces overseas, stating that he was fit and well. Reports were made concerning sick members, one of whom, was Bro. R. Franks, who is an inmate of Lewisham Hospital, Wellington. Sick pay amounting to £lO 10s was ordered to be paid and other accounts totalling £B2 3s 5d were passed for payment. Members signified their intention of being present at Masterton on Saturday on the occasion of the visit of the Grand Master and his officers. METHODIST CHURCH LADIES’ GUILD. There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Methodist Ladies’ Guild. The Rev. G. S. Cook led the devotions. Over 60 ladies were entertained at afternoon tea. Mu' Cook gave an interesting talk on. the philosophy ol childhood, which was much appreciated. He was accorded a vote of thanks. 1 Motor Car Stolen. While on Home Guard duty on Sunday last Mr C. Jensen, of Waihakeke, had his car stolen from near the State Theatre, Holloway Street, Carterton. The police have the matter in hand, but so far no trace of the car has been found. First Larnb of Season. The first lamb of the season has made its appearance on Mr Eric L. Rayneps property, Chester Road. Patriotic Dance. There was a good attendance at the weekly dance held by the Carterton Patriotic Committee. The music was provided by Udy’s Orchestra- and the Blue River Dance Band. Much appreciated extras were played by Mrs N. F Teal, Messrs Hemi, T. Udy and D. Irwin. Spot waltzes were won by Mrs K. Ticehurst and Pte. Mulham and Miss A. Sorensen and Pte. Fenwick. The supper was supervised by members of the Catholic Church. REGENT THEATRE A SPLENDID COMEDY. Tonight there will be shown the outstanding comedy, “She Knew all the i Answers,” in which Joan Bennett and Franchot Tone give the best humorous | presentations of their career.
