POWER BOARD REVENUE
FIGURES for MAY. AN INCREASE REPORTED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The revenue for May, reported Mi G. Brown, secretary-manager of the Wairarapa Power Board, at today s meeting' of the board at Carterton, was slightly less than the estimate but showed a gain on that of May last year the figures being £6308 this May and’£6l24 in May, 1941. Showroom sales showed a small increase. The amount of new installation work ofieiina was showing a reduction but was sufficient to keep the present staff fully occupied. The number of consumers was now 6332, as compared with 6215 twelve months ago. ine expenditure on new and reconstruction work during the first two months of the year amounted to £1330. The chief engineer, Mr H. B. Keenan, reported on general engineering activities in May. The deviation of the 11,000 volts main feeders crossing the Waingawa River and supplying the Masterton area was just about completed and that at Manaia and Homewood was also nearing completion. Urgent work still required attention in the northern area. The annual overhaul of the lower plant at the headworks had been carried on from May 25 to May 30.
