OBITUARY

MRS C. H. PAYNE.

The many friends of Mrs C. H. Payne will regret to learn of her death, which occurred suddenly last evening at her residence, 74 Perry Street, Masterton. She was the eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs James "Wrigley, pioneer settlers of the Masterton district, and was the last surviving member of the family. She had been in indifferent health for the past two years. Born in Masterton .73 years ago, Mrs Payne had resided here all her life. She was of a retiring disposition and was held in high esteem for her many fine personal qualities. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Messrs R. C. J. and A. E. Payne, and one daughter, Mrs J. Gray, all of Masterton. Another son, Mr W. W. Payne, was killed in a motor accident in 1930. The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving the late residence, following a service at 2 p.m, for the Masterton Cemetery.
