ANZAC DAY
NO HALT ON DEFENCE WORKS. STATEMENT BY COMMISSIONER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. “On Anzac Day (next Saturday) work on all urgent defence works will proceed and the controllers have already directed the various undertakings on which they are engaged to this effect,” states Mr James Fletcher, Commissioner of Defence Construction. “The workers employed,” he added, “will be entitled to the appropriate rates of payment, as prescribed by awards or emergency orders, whichever apply.”
