Because of a rise in the cost of living, the basic wage in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia will be increased by 2s a week, in Victoria by 3s and in Western Australia and Tasmania by Is. The new basic wage rate in Sydney will be £4 13s; in Melbourne, £4 12s; in Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart, £4 Bs, and in Perth £4 7s.
