MYSTERY SHOT

FARM EMPLOYEE WOUNDED IN BLENHEIM. POLICE INVESTIGATIONS. (Bv Telcgi-aph—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, This Day. A mysterious wounding in the knee, of a farm employee, Ivor John Bonn, aged 27, occurred in the Rai Valley, 40 miles from Blenheim, on Friday night. Boon was struck in the back of the left leg by a bullet which penetrated his knee.

Boon had paid a short call on friends, Mr and Mrs Peter Anderson and family, and was walking towards a motorcar when he was wounded. It was a stormy night and neither the victim nor the Andersons heard the shot. Boon fell helpless to the ground. It was some time before his cries for help were heard inside the house, which is in an isolated locality.

The police are attempting to establish whether the. attack was malicious, or whether the wounding was an accidental result of nocturnal deer stalking in the surrounding hills. Boon was reported to be progressing satisfactorily this morning, in the public hospital.
