AIR CHURCHILL’S MESSAGE TO BOMBER COMMAND ON THE AUGSBERG RAID. MEMORABLE FEAT OF ARMS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) RUGBY. April 19. The Prime. Minister (Mr Churchill) has sent the following message to Air Marshal Harris, Commander-in-Chief of the Bomber Command:—“We must plainly regard the attack of the Lancasters on the U-boat engine factory at Augsberg as an outstanding achievement of the R.A.F. Undeterred by heavy losses at the outset, the bombers pierced, in broad daylight, into the heart of Germany and struck at a vital point with deadly precision. Pray convey the thanks of the Government to the officers and men who accomplished this memorable feat of arms, in which no life was lost in vain.”
