SMALL NUMBER OF TROOPS EVACUATED GENERALS IN ENEMY HANDS. AMERICAN WAR DEPARTMENT REPORT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.50 a.m.) RUGBY, April 17. A United States War Department communique states that a relatively small number of troops and all the Army nurses, totalling 68, were evacuated to Corregidor from Balan on April 9. The communique discloses that ten United States generals and six Filipino generals are believed to be in enemy hands.
