An important contingent of troops has been added to the Free French forces in Libya. General Catroux, commander in chief of the Free French forces in the Middle East, issued a spirited order of the day to the troops when they left to join ‘their comrades. The order read: “The year which is beginning brings the realisation of the wish dearest to the hearts of the Free French. You are to have the. supreme joy of marching against the enemy. Yesterday you were the hope of France. You will tomorrow be its pride. The echo of your combats will ring from the Mediterranean io the North Sea, from Tunis to Agadir. Your victories and your sacrifices will enflame the hearts, restore the energy, and spread over the homeland a salutary wave of the spirit to war and be free. Your lot is enviable\ Your mission is great. You will be worthy of it, Vive la France!”
