BUILDING SOCIETY BALLOT FOR £6OO. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of the Wairarapa Terminating Building Society, over which Mr Gordon Hughan presided, was held last evening. No tenders were received for an appropriation, and a ballot for £6OO was taken, being won by Miss E. Krahagen, Carterton. “BONDS FOR BOMBERS” PARADE TOMORROW AFTERNOON. It has been arranged that a parade of officers and men of the forces be held in Carterton tomorrow afternoon commencing at 2 o’clock in connection with the “Bonds for Bombers” camIpaign. Up till last night bonds to the value of £573 had been purchased at the local post office. Swimming Baths, The following figures demonstrate the popularity of the Carterton Municipal swimming baths: —Season’s tickets issued: Children, 82; adults, 23; 26 ; G69 children have been admitted free, and 3260 soldiers have also had the free use of the baths. Personal. Mr F. Sunkel. of Carterton, met with a painful accident yesterday. He was assisting in fencing operations at Mr Thorne's farm at Carrington, when the fingers of one hand were caught in a roll of barbed wire which was being used. One finger was dislocated and another so badly cut that the sinews were severed. He was attended by Dr. W. J. C. Wells. Leading Aircraftman G. M. Ross is spending a few days leave with his parents, Mr and Mrs A. Ross, “Glenview,” Longbush. Sergeant Pilot C. C. Deller arrived home on leave from overseas last evening. Mrs M. A. Teal, of Garrison Street, Carterton, a very old and highly respected resident, celebrated her 94th birthday yesterday. She is still hale and hearty and received many congratulatory messages. Miss Dawn Moorcock, of High Street, Carterton, who is a patient in the Masterton Hospital, is progressing satisfactorily towards recovery. I REGENT THEATRE “SKY MURDER.” The thrilling picture “Sky Murder,” in which the leading roles are taken by Donald Meek and Walter Pidgeon, and the outstanding comedy drama, “Keeping Company,” featuring Frank Morgan and Anne Rutherford, will be shown tonight.
