AIRFIELD DEFENCE
NEW SCHEME IN BRITAIN ESTABLISHMENT OF SPECIAL CORPS. ANALAGOUS TO ROYAL MARINES. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, January 7. The War Cabinet has decided on a complete reorganisation of airfield defence, ending the present unsatisfactory system of divided responsibility between the Army and Air Force, says the “Standard.” A special corps will be formed, being the R.A.F. equivalent of the Royal Marines. This decision is the outcome of long discussions by Service committees and members of the Cabinet. The change follows on the revelation of serious defects in the present airfield defence.
