SUCCESSFUL ATTACKS. IN ITALY AND MIDDLE EAST. (Bi’itish Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.25 a.m.) RUGBY, November 16. A Middle East R.A.F. communique states: “Marshalling yards at Catania (Sicily) were successfully raided by bomber aircraft on the night of November 14. On the same night Brindisi was bombed and also objectives at Benghazi, Berka, Bardia and Derna. “A force of enemy fighters was intercepted by fighters over a landing ground in the Western Desert. A Messerschmitt 110 was destroyed and ethers were damaged. “On November 14, Maryland bombers of the South African Air Force attacked the.,aerodrome at Derna and obtained direct hits on two grounded enemy aircraft. “A wireless station at Azozo and enemy positions at Kulkaber were effectively bombed and machine-gunned. “Five of our aircraft are missing, but the pilot of one fighter is safe.”
