The director of priorities in ' the Office of Production Management, MiNelson, declared that America will probably be obliged to devote 40 percent of her national income to the defeat of Hitler, which may take two or three years. Mr Nelson added that this would require tremendous quantities of-materials which might leave an insufficiency to meet civilian needs. The co-director of the Office of Production Management, Mr Knudsen, revealed that the United States would attain its peak production in steel in the second quarter of 1942.
