WHATMAN HOME

CHILDREN ENTERTAINED. On Saturday evening the children of the Cecelia Whatman Home were entertained by a music company selected by Miss Dorothj* Jamieson and Mr and Mrs Miller Hope. After the singing of the -New Zealand National Anthem. Major Victor Dick, who presided, welcomed the visitors. The various items were well received and included the following: Pianoforte duct, Spanish Dance No.l and No. 6 (Moszkowski); “My Ain Conntree” (Tewksebury Road). Mr and Mrs Miller Hope: song, “Fairy Glade" and “Strawbery Fair,” Margaret Bannister: character song. “The Looking Glass.” Joan Whittaker: recitation. “I've Got a Pain in my Sawdust" and “Tea Party.” Jocelyn Heath: patriotic song, “Bless ’em all,” Brian Blackwood: Bible story, "Baby Moses ” encore, “Spring Cleaning,” Noeline Goudge; character song. “The Girl in the Blue Gown” and “Peter Rabbit.” Noeline Blackwood: Bible story. “David and Goliath,” Stanley Goudge; monologue, “The Old Front Door,” Ngaire Heath: ventriloquist, Mr Vin. Wilton. Mrs Major Dick proposed a hearty vote of thanks to those responsible for an enjoyable evening. Supper was served by the senior girls of the home.
