President Roosevelt, in his Labour Day speech, will include an important statement on international affairs. There will be a nation-wide broadcast of the speech at 3.45 a.m, on Tuesday, Australian E.S.T. _ President Roosevelt is spending the weekend at Hyde Park and will speak from there on Monday. Other speakeis include the British Minister of Labour (Mr Ernest Bevin) and American Labour leaders. MANY QUESTIONS BY AMERICAN PRESSMEN. RETICENCE REGARDING PACIFIC OUTLOOK. (Received This Day, 1.10 p.m.) WASHINGTON, August 29. President Roosevelt, at a Press conference, asked whether he was hopeful that war in the Pacific could be averted, smilingly evaded reply, characterising the question as too long and too broad. Asked whether he was getting on or getting anywhere at his meeting with Admiral Nomura (Japanese Ambassador) the President replied: “No news today.” The pressmen reminded the President that the second anniversary of the war was approaching and asked whether the outlook was any better. He replied: “I am making a speech on Monday.” ,
