FINLAND ACCUSED
TERRITORY AT DISPOSAL OF GERMAN ARMY ACCORDING TO MOSCOW REPORT. FRONTIER ATTACK REPULSED. LONDON, June 25. The Moscow communique this morning includes the statement: “Finland has placed territory at the disposal of the German army and air force, and German troops and planes for 10 days have concentrated in districts bordering the Soviet Union. Troops attempted to cross our frontier in the Kuolajarvi area (north .of Lake Ladoga); they were repulsed and a number were captured.”
AIR ATTACKS RUSSIANS TWICE RAID HELSINKI. ONE MACHINE SHOT DOWN. (Received This Day, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, June 25. Soviet planes from Hanko twice raided Helsinki this morning. One was shot down by a Finnish fighter and people in the streets cheered as it fell. Bomb explosions were heard eastward of the city, near the Malmi airfield. CROPS IN UKRAINE HARVESTING EXPEDITED. LONDON, June 25. Moscow radio says that harvesting has begun in South Ukraine and Georgia. (Georgia is on the eastern side of the Black Sea and is bounded in the south by Turkey). All collective farmers, the radio says, are participating, endeavouring to prove their loyalty by harvesting as quickly as possible. One-third of the harvest has already been brought in in some areas.
GOEBBELS AT WORK DESTRUCTION OF PRO-SOVIET PROPAGANDA. (Received This Day, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, June 25. Dr. Goebbels has ordered the destruction of all films and photographs showing scenes of friendship between Germany and Russia, especially the picture of M. Molotov shaking hands with Herr von Ribbentrop.
JAPANESE POLICY AS RESULT OF INVASION OF RUSSIA. PROMISE OF AN EARLY ANNOUNCEMENT. (Received This Day, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, June 25. The Tokio United Press correspondent has been authoritatively informed that the Government has reached a decision on their future policy as a result of the German invasion of Russia, which will be announced in 48 hours. NAZI STATEMENT HITLER ON THE RUSSIAN FRONT (Received This Day, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, June 25. A Berlin communique, which reveals that Hitler is on the Russian front, adds: “Our operations against Russia are progressing so favourably that great successes are expected.” RATHER VAGUE CLAIMS BY THE GERMANS. (Received This Day, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, June 25. , The Germans continue to claim sweeping land-fighting successes, including a penetration of 75 miles into Russian territory, but give no indication of where this breach has occurred. The German News Agency, commenting on the High Command's reticence, says this is customary during large scale operations and the next few days will, show the true position.
