POWER BOARD MEETING YESTERDAY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Tararua. Electric Power Board was held in Eketahuna yesterday. Mr P. Davies presided and the following members were also present: Messrs P. S. Page, C. T. Richardson, L. Johnson. S. K. Siddells, E. W. Cheetham. T. Fouhy, W. Britland and J. B. Carruthers. Leave of absence was granted Messrs J. G. Brechin and A. W. Bissett. Four months leave of absence was granted Mr S. K. Siddells. who will shortly undergo a course of training at a Territorial camp. The action of the chairman and sec-retary-manager in placing the matter of wilful damage to the board's lines at Kaitawa. in the hands of the police, was confirmed. In referring to the matter, the engineer said that insulators and transformers had been badly damaged by the throwing of stones. It was resolved that a special meeting of the board be held on Friday next for the purpose of dealing with a revision of electricity rates to residential consumers. The engineer. Mr D. Fraser, in his monthly report, stated inter alia: The connected load has been increased this month as follows: Eketahuna County, 28.962 k.w.; Pahiatua Borough. .180 k.w.: Pahiatua County, 53.538 k.w.: Akitio County, 5.960 k.w.; total. 88.640 k.w.
The secretary-manager reported inter alia as follows: The total receipts received for the month amounted to £4308 3s 5d made up as follows: — Electricity, £3419 15s 4d; trading, £Bl7 5s 8d; miscellaneous receipts, £7l'- 2s sd. A mild increase in business was reported, the major items of which were as follows: 13 electric ranges, 7 electric water heaters. A recent examination by the Engineer's Department shows that our unit sales are 8.99 per cent in excess of the sales for the same period last year, while the Controller's suggestion is that we aim for an increase of 6.5 per cent. We are still appealing to consumers for economy along certain lines and by voluntary inclination.
BOY SCOUTS MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Boy Scouts' Committee, those present were Messrs A. Golder (chair), A. B. Fordyce, L. Brown, A. H. Gray, W. N. Richardson. M. W. Priest, J. Tolley and J. Curry and IVlesdames O. Walton and R. Gallagher. Accounts amounting to £3 0s 9d were recommended for payment. A volO of thanks was passed to the Drama - Circle for iis generous donation towards the funds and also to the Concert Orchestra for valuable assistance rendered.
Cubmaster H. Smith was granted leave of absence until such time as he is fit to resume his duties.
Scoutmaster Gray was authorised to procure a quantity of garter tabs, patrol ribbons, service stars and rope 1 .
It was decided to hold the sixth birthday party of the Troop on July 9. Invitations for this function are being sent to Commissioner Burton, District Scoutmaster Allsop, District Cubmistress E. Gregor and also the Konini and Pahiatua troops. The Scoutmaster reported that at present 23 Scouts were on the roll, ihe average attendance at musters was 16-17. There were now three patrols. The Assistant Cubmaster staled that the Cub roll stood at 32 and the average attendance at musters was 20.
