The death occurred today at Hastwell, of Mrs Caroline Seymour, wife of Mr Charles Barondon Seymour, at the age of 68 years. Mr G. R. Turner, of the staff of SolWay School, has been appointed first assistant at the Shannon School. He will take up his new duties on August 1. Mr Joseph Perry, Alfredton, will leave early next month for Taranaki where he has accepted a position as branch manager for Messrs Newton King Ltd., a well known stock firm. Sir Evelyn Wrench, C.M.G., founder of the Overseas League and the Eng-lish-Speaking Union, and Lady Wrench are to be the guests of the Government at afternoon tea next Tuesday. Private advice has been received in Masterton from Egypt that Private Harold Dixon, who is in hospital, is progressing satisfactorily from a shoulder and head wound received in Crete. Mr E. Hay, Pigeon Bay, has been nominated for membership of the electoral committee of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board by the Canterbury Sheepowners’ Union. Mr E. S. Taylor has also been nominated by the Canterbury A. and P. Association. Sir Joseph Smith, Auckland, who has been acting as Dominion Chief Commissioner of the Boy Scouts Association of New Zealand during the indisposition of Mr Hector Christie, Wanganui, has relinquished this appointment, as Mr Christie has once more taken up duty.
