-—• PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH FAREWELL GATHERING. (“Times-Age” Special.) A very enjoyable social gathering was held in the Presbyterian Sunday School yesterday afternoon, when occasion was taken to farewell Mrs Evans, of Matarawa. who has been a staunch Presbyterian Church. Guild and Presbyterian Women's Mission Union worker. t The Rev H. Bloomfield referred to the valuable work both Mr and Mrs Evans had done for the Greytown Presbyterian Church, and said that they would both be missed very much. Mr Bloomfield then presented Mrs Evans with a crystal vase from the Guild members, and wished her every happiness in the future. Mrs Evans thanked Mr Bloomfield and the Guild members for the gift and the kind thoughts and messages, and said that she hoped to come back to see old friends occasionally. Mrs Bull, on behalf of the Presbyterian Women’s Mission Union, said that Mrs Evans had shown keen interest in mission work. z She wished her happiness in her new home. 1 Mrs Johnston, president of the Ladies’ Guild, said that Mrs Evans had always been a tower of strength to the Guild, and they were very sorry to lose her.
A musical programme was arranged, items being as follows: Pianoforte duets, Mesdames H. Farley and H. G. Carter; League of Mothers' Glee Choir, songs, “Creation's Hymn," "One Fleeting Hour,” "John Peel" and "Now is the Hour when we must say Goodbye”; recitations, Miss Hughla McPhee, “The Star” and “My Mother's Hands”; songs, Miss Askew, "Morning” and "An Irish Folk Song”; recitations, Miss Keddell, “The Erl King’s Daughter” and "The Fair on the Green.” The accompanists were Miss Keddell and Mrs H. G. Carter. A competition was conducted by Mrs McLeod, the winners being Mesdames Gregor, Carter, Shedden, On* and S. Skeet. Members of the Ladies’ Guild were the hostesses for afternoon tea.
Hockey. The following will represent the Grey town Scouts' team against College Old Boys at Grey town at 1.30 p.m. on Saturday:—l. Trotman (captain), R. Jury, Don Ross, W. Trotman. R. Day. F. Skeet. R. Gallon, P. Brabender. P. Farrell, P. Anker, D. Scrimgeour. Personal. Mr and Mrs A. M. Haigh have left on a holiday visit to Hastings.
