NAZI PROTEST
AGAINST THE CLOSING OF CONSULATES HANDED TO AMERICAN GOVERNMENT. FLAT REJECTION IN PROSPECT. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.55 p.m.) WASHINGTON, June 18. Germany today formally delivered to the State Department a strong protest against the expulsion of her Consular officials and alleged a violation of the Treaty of Commerce and Friendship of 1923. The Assistant Secretary of State (Mr Sumner Welles) indicated that the protest would be flatly rejected.
