Major-General Freyberg, V.C.. commander of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, has been appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Allied forces in Crete. An air attack is reported on Crete. The enemy machines were intercepted by British fighters, which shot down four and damaged others. Anti-air-craft fire also accounted for some of the raiders.
