TODAY’S CARNIVAL SPORTS & PADDY’S MARKET. ("Times-Age" Special.) Carterton is cn fete today and large crowds are on the Showgrounds for the sports gathering of the PcnatahiAhiaruhe Horse Sports Club and the Carterton District Patriotic Committee’s effort to raise funds for the £l.000,000 heart-to-heart appeal. Business js brisk at all stalls of the Paddy’s Market and guessing competitions for numerous articles are being held. The sports gathering is a decided success. Entries are numerous in all events and competition is keen. For tonight many entertaining events are listed and there is sure to be a record gathering. Residents are spending freely and it is fully anticipated that the result will produce the amount required for the district quota. Excellent work is being carried out by the secretary and his assistants, and the ladies and other committees. Personal Items. Mrs J. Archer, of Kent Street, Carterton, left this morning for Hamilton and Auckland. Her son is at Hobsonville base, Auckland. Miss Barbara Dwane. of Park Road. Carterton. has left for Wanganui where she has accepted a position. Borough Council. The monthly meeting of the Carterton Borough Council will be held in the Council Chambers, Carterton, on Tuesday night.
