"Trouble Brewing." which will be | shown tdlnorrow night at the Cosy S i Theatre, is undoubtedly George - j Formby's funniest film, eclipsing even - j his "Keep Your Scats Please" and "It's J I in the .Air." for hcany laughs. In the - i new story George has an excellent ■' J part as a printer's compositor who fan--icies himself as a detective, and if you ■' can imagine Formby as a super sleuth, •jyou will have some idea of the fun in ! 1 store for you here. His escapades ■. whilst trying to entrap a gang of ' I crooks are an absolute riot. One par■lticularly episode is where George de‘jputises for the horoscope writer of the > 11 paper and innocently causes his friend Hto believe that a certain horse will I ■, win a race and enable them to make at j great deal of money. Of course. George j doesn't know his pal Bill has taken it j ' I from the day’s horoscope, neither is I ■|Bill aware that George has written the! column. Oil to the races they go and d George's savings are invested on a | horse is left right behind. Disconsolately the two men throw awa> ■ . their ticket and make their way to the' exit. Meanwhile the horse has sud- ■ i denly spurted forward and actuallywins the race. It is not until George i and Bill are just outside the course | i that they hear the news, and naturally! - go tearing back to find the ticket, For-j ; tunatcly they remember the number; ;and after a great deal of feverish I 1 searching they manage to locate it. i I Their joy is very shortlived, however,! j when after changing their money for! (notes of smaller denominations, they j • are found to bo spurious and ore con-' j fiscatcd by the police. ; A stirring talc of an idealistic young | Llawyer who is forced to prosecute his I • best friend for a crime he did noil ( commit is Monogram's "Gang Bullets,” I the associate feature. A gangster pic-i j lure with a new twist. ‘ Gang Bullets"I. has its harrowing moments as well as I. I its dramatic ones, for it is filled with], (action from the start. Outstanding'; ! performances are turned in by Anne < • Nagel as Wayne's daughter; Robert - i Kent, as John; and Charles Trowbridge ' (as Dexter Wayne. A particularly ‘ i ominous Big Bill is Morgan Wallace. ' ' and good bits are donated by John ( Morton and J. Farrell MacDonald.
