The second bomb fell in the back garden of a house but did not serious damage. At 8 p.m., at Neil Shantonach, near Carrickmacross, Monaghan, ,an unidentified plane dropped bombs. One exploded near a farmer’s house, slightly injuring the owner.
A German plane bombed the Irish Channel mail steamer Cambria 20 miles off the Irish coast on Wednesday. The only casualty was the third officer, who was killed.
The ports of Galway and Sligo are to be placed under military control. Announcing this, the Eire Minister of Defcnc.e, Mr Aiken, said that this was another step in the preparation of Eire against invasion.
