Mr R. J. Rae, stationmaster at Featherston, will leave shortly to take up the position of chief clerk at Taumarunui, and will be succeeded by Mr H. Crawford, shift clerk, Te Kuiti. The death occurred in Wellington yesterday as the result of having been accidentally shot by a .303 rifle last Saturday, of Mr lan Douglas Rust, 17, son of Mr and Mrs D. Rust, formerly of Masterton. Mr Rust Senr., was headmaster of West School for a period until about twelve months ago. A well-known Hawke’s Bay resident, Mr William John Graham, died in Hastings yesterday. He was born in Puketapu in 1873, and went to Hastings as a young man. He and his elder brother, Mr S. Graham, set up in business as Graham Brothers, and established livery stables. Later Mr William Graham became associated in the firm of Graham and Gebbie, and Graham vehicles were well known throughout the district. About 10 years ago he retired.

The funeral of the late Mr W. H. Millington, of Longbush, took place in Masterton yesterday, the service at Knox Church and at the graveside being conducted by the Rev W. J. Couling. of Carterton. There was a large attendance of mourners and among the many wreaths were those from the directors and management of the W.F.C.A., Ltd., and the Longbush School Committee. The pall-bearers, all returned soldiers were: Messrs R. Whyborn. L. S. Nicol. H. G. Alexander, S. Rolph. G. Wagg and G. T. Wagg.
