COMPETITIONS NIGHT
METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL. EXCELLENT PROGRAMME BY CHILDREN. The Masterton Methodist Sunday School Hall was filled last evening for a “competitions night.'' As usual, the children in their singing, reading and ■ other items based on their Bible and Hymnal, gave pleasure to an apprecia- ; tive audience of parents and friends. Thanks to the work of the Sunday School staff, the programme was put through smoothly and promptly. At the close of the programme, the superintendent minister, the Rev. H. S. Kings, complimented ' the Sunday School children on their fine performance and thanked the judges and.the accompaniste for their painstaking and efficient work so ’graciously given to help the children. The judges were Mrs Miller Hope. L.R.S.M.; Mrs J. N. Leadley, the Rev. H. S. Kings, Mr F. G. Rutter, Mr S. B. Maclennan, A.R.C.A., and the accompaniste was Mts J. R.! Dickson, L.T.C.L. I Mrs Leadley, judge of the elocution-j ary items, generously offered to pro- j vide certain free tuition to three pro- | mising contestants, Audrey Daysh, I Betty Conly and Daniel Davey. ■ Valuable assistance was rendered by junior Bible Class members, particularly Miss Greta Cody’s class, who attended capably to the supper requirements of the children. Mesdames Hope. Leadley and Dick- ' son were the recipients of floral tributes from the Sunday School children.
