REGENT THEATRE

“NAUGHTY BUT NICE.” The current programme at the Regent Theatre will be finally shown tonight and will be headed by ‘Naughty But Nice," in which Ann Sheridan. Dick Powell. Gale Page. Allen Jenkins, Zazu Pitts. Helen Broderick and Ronald Reagan 1 lake the leading roles. It is a joyous musical comedy-romance with a sensational star cast and a new dance surprise, and a very lively musical with some amusing satirical twists. Why the original and far more apt title of this hilarious offering should have been changed from “The Professor Steps Out,” is difficult to understand, for the chief character of the picture is a youthful, but very prim and proper professor of music who is unwittingly responsible for writing a swing number “Hooray for Spinach." ... In this hilarious comedy of errors Ann Sheridan gives generous evidence in support of her title of the “oomph girl" of the screen. "THE AMBUSH.” Tomorrow night's programme will be headed by "The Ambush,” which i features Gladys Swarthout, Lloyd' Nolan, William Henry. William Fraw-i Icy, Ernest Truex, and Polly Moran. It is a thrilling story of a boy and girl who are caught in the web of a ruthless manhunt. They are the innocent victims of a calm killer to whom a life means nothing. Killers, desperate for one last fling at . freedom and willing to take any chance to get it are engaged in a crime against the law. Four ultra-modern bandits swoop down on a Californian Bank, surprise spectators and guards with a smoke screen and flee with their booty, leaving a truck as the only clue to their identity. Gladys Swarthout, the bank secretary, and Lloyd Nolan, a truck driver, become involved in a breathless succession of thrills and adventure before the gang is finally rounded up in r gun-fight with the G-men. There is a strong supporting programme?.
