GAYER GLOVES
DECORATIVE- VOGUE. The crocheted glove is a decorative vogue that stresses the matching accessory mode very economically. The gloves are simple and quick to make, and the embroidered fingers and backs strike a cheery note. Crocheted in two sections —palm with thumb and the back—the two parts are then crocheted together from one wrist, up round the fingers, finishing at the other side of the wrist. This gives an opportunity to blend two shades if desired, and one topical idea at home is to have white backs to help in the “blackout." The work is close enough to give complete protection and warmth. Plain stitches are used—for the most part double crochet —and the embroidery can be as colourful as you please and follow any design. Simple but effective on a pair of tan gloves is blanket stitching in robin redbreast red outlining the sides and fingers. This border theme appears again worked in blocks of three white and three red or navy blue. This is a fashion that allows for great latitude and individuality. These suggestions for embroidery are merely a guide.
