MR FRASER LIKELY TO CARRY ON WELLINGTON, This Day. ' With the death of the Prime Minister. his Ministry is automatically dissolved, so that, constitutionally at present no Ministry exisl?. However, the practical interpretation of the position is that the present Cabinet, in order that the country may not be without a Government, remains in authority until after the funeral. Then the Gover-nor-General will call upon the Senior Minister. Mr Fraser and formally seek his advice about the formation of a Ministry' until such time as a new Prime Minister has been elected. Mr Fraser, who has been Acting-Prime Minister during Mr Savage’s illness, will no doubt continue in that position.
GOVERNMENT OFFICES CLOSING UNTIL SUNDAY. WELLINGTON This Day. A. “Gazette Extraordinary" announces that in consequence of the death of Mr Savage, Government offices throughout the Dominion will (except in the case of those that require to be kept open for the transaction of urgent public business) be closed from today, Wednesday, until Sunday. March 31. both days inclusive
