As a result of the coal strike, 500 men have been dismissed from the Broken Hill Proprietary works at Newcastle, and it is expected that thq steel works will cease production on Monday or Tuesday, except in the departments vital to the nation's war effort. It. is understood that thousands will go off after the week-end. Some 200 men have been discharged from Lysaghl’s works at Wollongong.
